Dota 2 Omega League Betting Odds & Tournament Preview

Posted on August 18, 2020

The Dota 2 OMEGA League tournament is in full swing, with European, North American, and Asian teams competing for the trophy. The biggest prizes are up for grabs in the Immortal Division, which pits the best European Dota 2 teams against each other. With a guaranteed prize pool of $600,000 this event should be a worthy substitute for the Dota 2 The International which was postponed for 2021.

Dota 2 OMEGA League Europe

The flagship competition of the Dota 2 OMEGA League is the European Immortal Division. Its group stage began on August 14 and matches are played in a best-of-three format, in a single round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs, with the next two also to qualify to the decisive round, but they will have to go through the lower bracket.

$500,000 of the prize pool will go exclusively to the top placed teams from the Immortal Division, with the winners getting the lion’s share of $200,000. The runner-up will collect $125,000, the third-placed team $60,000 and all those who finish inside of top eight will be financially compensated. Nigma and Evil Geniuses were credited with the first chance and odds of 4/1, respectively 5/1. Other teams to watch throughout the tournament are Team Liquid, The Alliance, Virtus.Pro and OG.

Immortal Division Odds and Predictions

Three matches are scheduled on August 20 and just as many on August 21, with the first day to bring the most anticipated games. Team Secret is expected to crush Ninjas in Pyjamas, as reflected by the odds of 1/20, but the other two matches could really go either way. FlyToMoon start as narrow favorites against Viking.gg with odds of 7/10, but their opponents can’t be underestimated at even odds offered by Betway.

Nigma and Evil Geniuses were regarded as the most likely teams to win the Dota 2 OMEGA League Europe before the start of the competition. That’s why the direct match is so important and in spite of the odds, this looks like the perfect coin flip. LuckBox offers odds of 7/10 on Nigma and 21/10 on Evil Geniuses after both teams won the opening round. The latter were most successful as they swept their opponents, whereas Nigma won by 2-1 against the highly belligerent The Alliance.

Dota 2 OMEGA League Asia

Looking exclusively at the prize pool of the Dota 2 OMEGA League Asia, it might seem that this event is less important. Only $40,000 will be spread among the 11 participating teams, but the competition will be just as intense. The group stage started on August 1 and concluded on August 16, with the first playoff matches scheduled for today. Eight teams have qualified for this phase of the tournament and they will play in the upper and lower brackets based on their placement at the end of the group stage.

Aster.Aries and 496 Gaming are the clear favorites in the playoffs, after winning the groups without dropping a single series. 496 Gaming actually posted better numbers, after losing only two matches as opposed to 3 for Aster.Aries. The latter also enjoyed a walkover against LING ER, as the team was disqualified on August 13 for match-fixing. You can bet on all the Dota 2 OMEGA League Asia playoff matches at GG.bet, as well as the outright winner of the tournament.

Dota 2 OMEGA League Americas

The Dota 2 OMEGA League Americas division has the smallest prize pool, but also the fewest participating teams. At the end of the day, the money that will be distributed among the top performers will be similar to what their counterparts from the Asian Divine Division will collect. Only the top six teams will finish in the money, with the winner to claim $12,000 and the runner-up $6500. The top four teams from each group will qualify to the playoffs, with the top two going straight to the Upper Bracket.

The group stage started on August 17 and the playoffs are scheduled to begin on August 28, with the tournament winners to be decided on September 5. Throughout the tournament, you can bet on match winners and special markets at Betway, as the esports betting site dedicates ample coverage to the competition. The teams to watch for are Infamous, Thunder Predator, Quincey Crew and Beastcoast, as they are credited among the favorites. All but Quincey Crew play in Group B, which makes this the most competitive group at the Dota 2 OMEGA League Americas.
