The 2021 LoL Worlds finals are almost here! Damwon KIA and EDward Gaming will face each other on November 6 in a thrilling Bo5 series for a chunk of the multi-million dollar prize pool and the prestige that comes from being the #1 League of Legends team in the world. Which team has the upper hand, and who should you bet on? Find the answer in our LoL Worlds finals predictions!

Damwon KIA vs EDward Gaming

The all South Korean semi final was won by Damwon KIA after five thrilling games against T1. The reigning champions were able to outshine Faker, the Unkillable Demon King. Now they face EDward Gaming, the Chinese powerhouse that tasted success in LoL Worlds many years ago. The Chinese team had to fight hard in both the semi finals and the quarterfinals, winning by 3-2 on both occasions. Now, the stage is set for an epic confrontation between two of the strongest League of Legends teams in the world.

Damwon KIA Ready to Defend LoL Worlds Title

DWG was credited with the second chance to win the LoL Worlds and defend their trophy. FunPlux Phoenix were the favorites, but Damwon KIA crushed them twice in the group stage. Throughout the tournament, the South Koreans under the guidance of Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun outshined their opponents. The most difficult series was the semi finals against T1, where Faker and his companions brought the reigning champions to the brink.

Heo “ShowMaker” Su is playing at his top level on midlane and he gave Faker a run for his money in the semi finals. Damwon KIA is known for its late game prowess, but the early match solo laners are also incredibly good. Khan is the only player in their starting formation that hasn’t won the LoL Worlds. Throughout the tournament, he outperformed opponents on top lane and together with jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu successfully ganked top players

The bottom lane is an avatar of stability, with BeryL and Ghost frequently snowballing leads. DWG is one of the most dangerous teams in the world when they get ahead. The South Koreans are able to turn an advantage into insurmountable leads in a few minutes. They are also capable of clawing their way back into games that start poorly. These are all strong reasons for trusting them ahead of the LoL Worlds Final.

Don’t Underestimate Resilient Edward Gaming

EDward Gaming were defeated twice at LoL Worlds, by 100Thieves and T1. The prospect of facing the best South Korean team is not surprisingly intimidating after the tough series against Gen.G. Lee “Scout” Ye-chan brought his best game in the series against Gen.G’s Bdd and that was barely enough for them to advance to the Finals. The jungle matchup was also slightly better for the Chinese team, although Jiejie struggled in the early game.

Flandre’s experience on top lane could prove decisive if EDward Gaming is to win the LoL Worlds 2021. He has the skills to shut down Khan and could take advantage of the pressure the South Korean is under. Arguably the player that the Chinese are relying on the most is Park “Viper” Do-hyeon, the ADC. Together with Tian “Meiko” Ye, they create an exceptional bottom lane, perhaps the best in China. It is this area of the map where EDG could have an advantage over DWG in the final act.

EDward Gaming showed extraordinary resilience by defeating Royal Never Give Up in the quarterfinals. They were also amazing in the semifinals and brilliantly dealt with the “Ruler late-game win condition”. When they were able to take an early lead, they didn’t allow opponents to claw their way back into the game. Unfortunately, they were also less successful in turning the tables against teams that got ahead. Against DWG they can’t afford to fall behind because the South Koreans don’t give second chances.

BETTING ADVICE

Everything boils down to whether EDward Gaming can hold their own in the bottom lane. Viper and Meiko are the players EDG will rely on to build an early lead. The midlane duel between South Koreans Scout and ShowMaker also promises to be explosive. Damwon KIA have the better jungler and he should give ShowMaker and Khan an edge on solo lanes.

DWG are the overwhelming favorites to win the LoL Worlds Final, but the odds are only 1.30. You can bet on Damwon KIA scoring a 3-1 LoL Worlds finals victory over EDward Gaming for odds of 4.60 at Betway. If you prefer a safer approach, just take the odds of 1.80 on them to cover the -1.5 game spread.
